NADIR REVIEW
By Carol Kluz

Brilliant and absorbing, Nadir is the embodiment of science fiction at its best. Once again William Rieser triumphs in this unique saga that is devoid of humans, yet presented in a very 'human' way so as to be savored like a banquet, each chapter introducing new characters and suspense to whet the most defined reading appetites.

Langford Joh is the main character, at one time the Ambassador from Earth to the Confederation of planets. A superior species (Prail) admired his efforts and induced him to accept a more poignant role as guardian of the entire sector of space he was familiar with. He was installed on the Prail throne on Manic and disappeared from contact with all other species. This epic begins with Langford discovering he is losing his human form; he is bonded to his chair. His mentor and only link to the Prail is Nadirian. In his capacity as guardian, Langford is called upon to find solutions and manage deceptions through his go-between Nadirian.

William Rieser displays an unusual imagination that opens the universe to his fans. His writing style is not one that can be skimmed, because he introduces many characters, all playing their roles as pieces to a puzzle. It is rather a tale to curl up before the fire and savor every word to discover the relationships between good and evil...friends and enemies. It is one of those books to be enjoyed many times over.
